Tips Before Clips

Care for your lawn:

Watering Tips Newly seeded lawns need the top 1 inch constantly moist but not soggy. Mist 1-2 times per day and increase on extremely hot days. You will want to water your lawn between 6:00am and 10:00am, while the weather is still cool. If you need to water in the evenings then do so between 4-6pm. Grass that is still wet at nightfall it will be more susceptible to disease.

After germination continue to keep the soil moist approximately 2" deep until grass blades grow to 3" tall. You will need to start watering your lawn as soon as possible to begin the germination process. Seeds will remain on the ground until watered. Watering time & amount may vary based on temperatures.

Most lawns will need 1-2 inches of water per week, including rainfall.

Easy ways to determine if your lawn needs water:

Mowing Sprouts that cover the ground and grow to a 3-4 inch height are ready for mowing. Although maintaining a moist soil structure was necessary for grass establishment, it is imperative that you allow the your lawn to dry for 48 hours before mowing it for the first time. Set deck to no less than 3" when mowing for best results.
